Creating A Trailer

Get some paper and write down some interesting points about your podcast. Once you have a few ideas then write this bullet point list of info:

  • Podcast Name.

  • Hosts Name.

  • Short Summary of Your Podcast.

  • Website Link or Social Media Handle.

Try writing it up into a short script for your trailer. Include it all and try to make it as concise as possible. Aim for about 30 secs to 1 min as a rough guide.

How to Upload A Trailer

Using Podcast.co, upload your trailer like it's a normal episode. From the Episode Type drop down list, select Trailer. This will help to prevent directories like Apple Podcasts seeing the short trailer and labelling it as test content, as well as showing it as a Trailer episode in all your listeners feeds.

Then click Next, choose whether you want to publish it now or at a later date, and then you're done! Get to promoting your trailer all over the place and use it to create a buzz!

Quick Podcast Trailer FAQ

How long should a podcast trailer be?
Around 30 secs - 1 min, as a rough guide.

What should I put in my trailer?
Your podcast title, a brief summary, the hosts name, and a website address or one social media account so your potential listeners have somewhere to go for updates!

Can I include episode snippets?
Yes! If you have these, pop in some interesting bits from the first episode or two. This way, people know what to expect!

Should I ask for Patreon donations in my trailer?
We wouldn't recommend it. Wait until you have a few episodes out first. Earn your supporters trust and donations. They'll be more likely to stick around and continue supporting the show that way!
